Sudor of hypopotame, antibiotic

Scientists have extracted two pigments from the sweat of the hippo that protect the animal from the sun.

The truth is that it is not sweat, the hippopotamus does not synthesize it in the form of sweat. However, this viscous liquid helps to regulate body temperature. The liquid has no color at first, but then reddens and then becomes brown because the liquid components are polymerized. Scientists have extracted two pigments from the sweat of the hippo, one red and another orange. These pigments protect the animal from the sun and, in addition, have an antibiotic effect.
