Putting science in Basque

We have recently published a reflection on the subsidies that the Basque Government grants to the media to promote Basque. In fact, our magazine has lost 73% of Hedabideak's aid in the last 5 years. Since last year, the main criterion of distribution of money is the number of readers, which has left dramatic consequences in the specialized media.

How can a policy that wants to promote the use of Basque exclude Basque media working in specialized fields? It is hard to understand that this will support Basque. The Basque language, not to be left behind, has to wear science, literature, technology, sport and all the current fields.

Beyond the debate, we will continue to work to spread science in Basque. Specifically, we interviewed a member of the IXA group, Eneko Agirre, who has worked hard on the introduction of Basque on today's train. Since receiving the prestigious non-stop Google Research award last year, he has talked to us about understanding between machines and humans. Machines and human language: where are the current challenges?

We also wanted to raise a complex issue: the possible relationship between hormonal contraceptives and depression. From close experts, we have analyzed the results of the latest research, knowing that it is a topic to be taken with caution.

And in these pages you will also find one of the great challenges of humanity: it is a fusion project on Earth, which would provide energy for thousands of years, but still has great technological difficulties: ITER, a sweet on everyone's lips.
