Who invented the computer mouse?

Douglas Engelbart has been a prolific inventor. In 1964 he made the first prototype computer mouse. Next to the mouse he also invented a graphical interface based on a window system. He obtained the mouse patent in 1970. According to him, that wooden mouse was a tool to work with the screen in X-Y coordinates. He was called the mouse because he had a tail cable behind him.

In addition to this patent, he also participated in inventions such as email or video conferencing. In recent years he has received numerous awards. For example, in 1997 he received the Lemelson-MIT Award.
