The underwater robot Nereus reaches the deepest point of the oceans
The underwater robot Nereus has been submerged to the deepest point of the ocean, in the Challenger pit, located in the Marianas, west of the Pacific. The vessel reached a depth of 10,902 meters. Nereus is the one who is most immersed in the robots in progress and the first one who has studied the Mariana trench since 1998.

The first, in 1960: The submarine ship Trieste was submerged until 10.916 meters with two crew members. And the last in 1996: The unmanned ship of the dock reached 10,911 meters.
Currently, the most submerged ships descend to 6,500 meters, which makes available 95% of the marine bottom. Now, Nereus allows to reach 100% of the surface of the seabed.
