The world's first whale nursery in Japan

The Japan Cetacean Research Institute plans to carry out the first whale nursery, closing the bay of Hirado in southern Japan through a giant network. Afterwards, they would put traps to capture the available whales and would have hundreds of whales enter. In the bay there would also be a research space and facilities where tourists can make visits.

The objective of the studies is to define the reproduction process and the eating habits of the whales, in the successive, as with many other fish, for the growth of the whales.

The idea has awakened the anger of nature lovers because they consider that the project has no scientific purpose. And it is that the whales are migratory fish, so it is impossible to analyze their behavior in a closed place. According to them, the true interest of the nursery is to reduce criticism of Japan for whaling.
