Did the mountains grow faster than expected?

Researchers at Queen’s University of Canada have a research model that combines orogénesis, mountain growth, geocronology, mathematics and physics, which has allowed them to see that the Norwegian mountains grew faster than previously thought, and that during the process the earth’s surface was cooler than expected.

For the application of the model the age of stones has been measured. And precisely the key to this research lies in the accuracy of these measurements, which have used cutting-edge techniques. This has shown that the orogenic cycle of these mountains was completed in 13 million years, that is, the process of sinking the stones and their return to the surface (geological scale, of course) was relatively fast.
