Forty years have passed since the disappearance of the last train in Manchester. It is the first train to be installed in Britain since World War II. The company "Metrolink" has spent 30,000 million pesetas and has installed in the center of Manchester 2 railway lines 3 kilometers long.
The trains are composed of two cars and the speed they can reach is 80 kilometers per hour, but they are forbidden to circulate through the city center more than 50 kilometers per hour.
The return to the train represents a change of philosophy regarding this type of technology, that is, 30 years ago, the trains were slower than the cars, so they withdrew from the urban center. Now, on the contrary, traffic jams that occur in urban centers make many people can leave the car at home and the train can be a suitable means of transport.
This shift in focus is taking place elsewhere, including the most advanced projects in the US, France and the United Kingdom.
Traffic congestions in Basque capitals have become an increasing problem, so the rail solution would not be bad.
