Every year, CAF and the Elhuyar Foundation invite anyone interested in writing and scientific subjects to write outreach articles or books in Basque and to participate in this event. This year medicine has been the main medicine between the articles presented and the book projects. In fact, half of the work has focused on this topic. But many other topics have been covered in the rest of the work. According to the jury, "most of the works have seen a good or very good".

Articles

The winner of the outreach articles has been the debarra Aitor Urbieta Artetxe, with the work "Appliances prefer to play jazz to play the symphony". The author introduces us to the world of intelligent environments, explaining the advantages of a smart home in everyday life. And it is that, coordinated with each other and communicated with each other, they would automatically fulfill our daily desires and needs, they would not need directors and, as persecutors, improvise according to the situation to give a satisfactory answer. According to the jury, "in this circular article, the author shows us that we are at the door of this dream, in a simple way and at the same time with full depth".

The jazz melody would not be bad to music the hidden landscape that shows us the second prize. Physicist Jon Azkarraga Aretxabala wins the second prize with the play "The hidden face of the moon". In this article we will discover the characteristics and peculiarities of the relationship between the Moon and the Earth, and we will see, among other things, why one of its faces is always hidden. The author also talks about the origin of the moon, still hidden for scientists. The jury noted that "the physical laws between the Moon and Earth are easy to express" and that "it combines scientific knowledge well with the dream desire that the beautiful mother awakens human beings."

Begoña Arrate presented her book.

And not to the moon, the third prize went down the river, at the hands of biologist Lide Aristegi Urkia. In the article entitled "Dead Wood, Living River", Aristegi tells us about the ecological importance of dead wood in rivers. The jury explained that "life flourishes around dead wood." The jury highlighted that this work is easy to read: "Continuing with the exclamation, we will read it on a ramp, with accurate and proper writing."

Finally, the Donostian Xabier Artaetxebarria Artieda won the special award for young people under 25 years old "Computer diagnosis: medical computers?". with work. According to the jury, "in this article, the writer takes us, in a very appropriate way, to a near and exciting future."

Books

The prize for the informative book has been for the Pamplona Javier Navarro Los Arcos with the project of Physics and Metaphysics. Navarro wants to weave the questions and answers that scientists have been building throughout history, showing the value of personal actions and taking into account psychological, social and historical limitations; and show the continuous thread of metaphysics from Babylon to Einstein, from Aristotle to electrons and from the idea of emptiness to infinity.

What has not been left blank has been the project of weaving the network of Life of Begoña Arrate Larrañaga, winner of the scholarship two years ago. He has already seen the light, converted into a book of the same title, presented in the act by Arrate himself. In the writer's opinion, and according to the postulates of some scientists, the XXI. 20th century will be the century of networks and the study of nature through the science of networks will allow the human being to take significant steps. Therefore, the aims of the book are to explain what the philosophical-scientific debates about this idea consist of and help readers imagine what the network of life is like.
