For the first time, they collect in the same image a black hole and a big iron jet coming out of it. Specifically, it's the black hole in the M87 galaxy, which became news in 2019, and could be seen in an image as the first black hole. Now they have also collected in the same image a jet that escapes the gravitational force of the black hole.

A network of telescopes distributed around the world has been used to obtain the image: Global Millimetre VLBI Array (GMVA), Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) and Greenland Telescope (GLT). Thus, they have collected wavelengths that were not seen in the figure above, which has allowed them to better understand how black holes are and the phenomena that occur in them.

For example, the ring size now perceived by GMVA is approximately 50% higher than the previous one. According to astrophysicists, this indicates that more material is falling into the black hole than then. All the details have been published in the journal Nature.
