On the western slopes of the Andes, north of Peru, the oldest agricultural remains have been found so far. Fossil remains of man-grown peanut, pumpkin and cotton plants have been found, among others. They grew between 9,240 and 5,500 years, according to their radioactive carbon dating.

These species do not come from this area, that is, they did not grow naturally. This means that man took them, planted them and grew up there, that is, worked in agriculture.

In addition, they have been found in places related to the human being, such as the floor of several houses or food remains burned in the fireplace by the man of then. And, along with the plant remains, other traces related to agricultural activity have been found: hoe, cultivated land, small irrigation channels, etc.
