Navarros awarded in Japan

A research team from the School of Engineers of the University of Navarra has won the first prize for excellence at the international engineering congress held in Nagano, Japan. The meeting has dealt with linear agents for industrial applications, i.e. linear motors.

The research team of Electric Machines of the School of Engineers, led by Javier Atencia, presented at the congress of Nagano the new systems of control of linear motors. This type of motor, like the washing machine motor, does not turn, but produces a backward or forward movement of both surfaces. These types of engines are being used to move Tokyo metro trains and to manufacture cordless lifts, machine tool machines, levitating trains, etc.

The International Congress on Linear Agents for Industrial Applications is held every 3 years and is the only one held worldwide in this field. At the Nagano Congress 13 countries were represented and a total of 96 presentations were made.
