Imitate the movement system of microorganisms
01/01/2008 | Elhuyar

Some microorganisms, such as some bacteria, are able to move autonomously. Scientists have imitated this movement with metallic rods. The gold and platinum rods have been placed in a solution with a concentration gradient of oxygenated water. Only platinum reacts with oxygenated water, which makes the rod move. It has been observed that it ascends in gradient, that is, it moves towards the zone of greater concentration of oxygenated water.
