In the face of changes in mountain areas, the European Union has launched the Bioscenne project. In fact, in recent times traditional agriculture and livestock are disappearing and the population goes to the cities.
The objective of this project is to analyze the risks and opportunities that this trend generates in the conservation of wildlife, as well as to look for ways to combine in the future human activities with the conservation of biodiversity.
To do this, the interdisciplinary experts involved in the project will measure the changes that have occurred in the last 50 years in mountain species, ecology, human activities and economy, and will try to draw conclusions for the future.
Cairngorms from Great Britain, Grande Causse from France, Jotenheimen from Norway, Bukovskevrchy from Slovakia and Pindos from Greece are some of the projects that Bioscenne will analyze.
