Marine microorganisms in amber

Marine microorganisms in amber
01/12/2008 | Elhuyar

CNRS scientists encounter an ecological paradox when finding marine plankton submerged in amber. Amber keeps very well the living beings that were trapped in the resin that was in their day, but it is essential that the living reach the resin. This would be impossible for the inhabitants of the sea. But it had to happen somehow, as they have found them. According to scientists, the most possible explanation is that resinous trees were near the sea and that in some storm the sea water reached it.
