The French society XCOM has developed a graphics station for creating animated images on a PC-AT386. DAN (numeric animated images) has a 16 million color graphics card, a peripheral card and a display and a graphic table. It includes all stages, from simple images to output to film or video.

The introduction of images can be done in two ways: vectorially (as for classical production) or in the form of a pixel (with an automatic program of scanner and representation and painting). The animation is done by combining four different forms: simple intercalation, flexible alternation, manipulation (translations, twists, etc.). combining realization) and sequence (saving images one by one to create complex animations).

The animation obtained can be controlled in real time and can be modified or completed interactively. The decorations can be represented in the graphic table or digitized with a camera. To achieve three-dimensional effects XCOM has developed an Opium imaging station.

In the final stage of creating animated images, DAN allows you to create nine independent animation planes. The overlapping of these planes allows the placement of decorations and characters.
