It seems that the man of the image does not play with those trains. The British Derby Research Centre analyzes the problems arising from crossing two trains into the tunnels. When trains cross at high speed, they start to shoot and the goal is to reduce this effect by improving machine aerodynamics.
The research center has two parallel routes of 132 meters in length in which scale models circulate 1/25. The plant has hot wire anemometers to measure air speeds and transducer pressures.
British engineers also study how the pressure waves transmit heat to the tunnel walls during the passage of the train.
