The aim of an international consortium is to find an alternative to silicone-based microelectronics using DNA. If this objective was achieved, much smaller electronic devices would be produced. In this project, along with seven other universities, the UPV/EHU
The team of Ángel Rubio Secades, professor of Materials Physics, participates.
To do this, they will use DNA derivatives: G4-DNA, M-DNA and PC-DNA, as DNA is itself insulating from the electric current. The aim of these derivatives is to find the way to produce nanowires and, in addition, to analyze in detail the mechanism of transport of energy used by nanohantes.
