Once the effects of a certain protein have been blocked, Californian scientists have managed to get the skins of two year old mice to recover the skin properties of younger mice.

Specifically, they have worked with nf-kappa-B. This protein has a regulatory function that causes and/or shuts down the activity of several genes. In the mouse they remained blocked for two weeks, during which a thickening of the skin and a greater cellular fragmentation was observed, as in younger surfaces.

According to the head of research, his discovery reinforces the idea that aging is not a consequence of the deterioration accumulated over the years, but of certain genetic changes. And it is possible to restore those genetic changes.
