Sometimes the blades of wind turbines can deteriorate due to erosion, especially at the edges of the shovel. This wear is due to dust and sand particles suspended in the air. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the materials used to protect the surface of the blades of wind turbines.

This wear should take into account, on the one hand, the characteristics of the surface coating rooms (type, hardness, thickness) and the linear speed of the shovel, and on the other, the concentration and type of particles in the air (hardness and granulometry).

In Inasmet, the characteristics of the traditional classroom and other blade protection systems have been analyzed and quantified. From the results obtained, it has been possible to improve the characteristics of the most used coating in terms of erosion, adhesion, flexibility and less water absorption. Thus, progress has been made towards a harder surface for wind turbine blades.
