What has surprised you most, altered or fascinated you since you started working?
For me XX. The twentieth century has been impressive from a scientific and knowledge point of view. On the one hand, quantum mechanics has opened the door to knowing a small world and has allowed us to become aware of many things that are against intuition. On the other hand, the passage from the small to the big has allowed to realize in this century basic discoveries to know the universe. It seems fascinating to me how we have been able to reflect on them and draw conclusions.
To this must be added the relationship between basic science and technology. It was previously thought that basic science was to satisfy our curiosity, but today it is evident that very interesting applications of basic science emerge. For example, since the theory of relativity has come another way of thinking and understanding things, and GPS, for example, is based on that.
However, for me the most surprising thing, and also to understand what costs me a lot is that the universe we know is nothing more than a small part of the universe. We only know 5% and the rest do not know what it is. That makes me think that in the end we are nothing.
What would you like to witness the revolution or the discovery in your trajectory?
I believe that interdisciplinary collaboration is very important and fundamental to advance research. For example, I am a physicist and I am also investigating cancer treatment. I would like some day to be able to overcome cancers, since cancer is not the only one.
I am also involved in the field of energy and would like to see a revolution. Although there are great advances, we must recognize that, although energy is essential, we do not have it guaranteed. In that we are in the Stone Age and look forward to important developments for the future.
To finish, in another plane, I would like that in our country everyone will merge in the world of research, universities, companies, research centers... to face all together new challenges, in a broad world.
