The instrument we have in this image is the largest superconductor of dipolo-magnet in the world and will be part of a diving propulsion system. The magnetohydrodynamic propulsion is silent and has no moving parts. A magnetic field acts on the sea water contained in an electric current pipe. The electromotor force pushes the water towards the liver, carrying the boat forward. The magnet weighs 180 tons and has cost $12 million to the US army.
