Universe ears plus channels
Many of you will probably know NASA's SETI program. This program aims to discover strategic intelligences by analyzing the radio signals received from the universe. The well-known astronomer Carl Sagan is one of the drivers of this project.
From today this program will be better equipped thanks to a chip they have recently developed at Stanford University. This chip expands the number of channels that researchers can listen to to to 10 million euros and also reduces the cost of the analyzer that analyzes the signals received.
The analyzer separates the background sounds of the universe from the anomalous signals that may come from an alien civilization. This new chip is forty times more powerful than the circuits currently used.
SETI program signals are collected on a 25-metre antenna in the Arizona Mojave Desert.
