Giant tsunami in Hawaii

Hawaii was hit 120,000 years ago by a giant 500 meter wave, according to Hawaii geologists. According to some, this type of megatsunamis would be a consequence of the massive detachments to the sea. However, the theory of giant tsunamis has been criticized so far, since they considered that the evidence used could be explained by changing the level of the sea and tectonics. However, in a new research that has been carried out, important evidence has been found in favor of tsunamis. Marine fossils with more than 100,000 years of antiquity have been detected in a dry region of the time.

The area was located 400 meters above sea level and 5 kilometers towards the interior of the land. Researchers believe that the only possible force would be a huge wave to transport at that distance. Skeptics, however, are still uncertain data, since there are contradictions in sedimentology.

They simulate that a tsunami of this type could destroy Hawaii all the islands. However, since the frequency of these events is very low, experts say there is no reason for concern.
