In Brussels the European Commission has commissioned a review of the Akeloos River diversion project in Greek Thessaly. It's about diverting the river to water farmland, but there's a problem. According to the project, 20% of the waters of the Akeloos River would be diverted, but British hydrologists claim that 40% will actually be taken (and in droughts also 60%), so at the mouth of the Akeloos River the Missolondo nature reserve would be in danger. Endangered species such as the Dalmatian algiroide grow in this reserve.
