Lens focusing with pressure
01/03/2006 | Elhuyar

This is a new liquid lens that only acts on the pressure of the change of focus. The lens is a curved interface between the air and a liquid, located in a small opening.

It was carried out in Singapore by physicists of the Institute of Engineering and Materials Research (IMRE). And, as they have explained, this lens does not need mechanical parts and, due to its small size, is ideal for tools that carry some small camera, such as webcams, mobile phones or portable tools of doctors.
