Where does the paper go?

The South Basques consume 131 kilos of paper a year and those of the North 167. Of these, it is estimated that around 41% is reused.

Every Basque in the south consumes 131 kilos of paper per year. This data has been provided by the Spanish Consumer Association after the analysis carried out in 1995. Analyzing the data of Iparralde, in addition, we can know better the trend of Basque citizenship: On the other side of the Bidasoa it consumes 167 kilos of paper per inhabitant in a year.

It is estimated that approximately 41% of what used is reused, so it can be said that it is collected for later recycling once used about 2 million tons. According to the association itself, paper consumption is distributed as follows: 60 kilos of paper in packaging, 38 kilos in printing and writing, 13 kilos in press and 7 kilos in unspecified uses.
