The European Union aims to reduce polluting compounds emitted by diesel engines, paints and varnishes. In the case of paints, the new law aims to halve the number of organic compounds emitted, since they consider that they are cause of eye irritation, sore throat and respiratory problems.
In diesel engines, manufacturers will force to install filters. This aims to eliminate 90% of the dangerous particles emitted by these engines by 2011. If the European Parliament approves these measures, they will be launched in 2007.
