An interdisciplinary team of researchers from the UPV/EHU and the Cruces Hospital has received the Ordesa Research Prize in Neonatology. In the awarded work they have developed an experimental model to quantify and evaluate the damage caused by hypoxico-ischemic aggression in prematurely born lambs. Hypoxico-ischemic encephalopathy is a brain damage caused by the lack of oxygen and blood, and is one of the main causes of neurological death by disease, both in preterm and preterm children.
