In the March issue, we mentioned that the giant lizard (La Gallotia gomerana), about 60 centimeters high, which only lives on the island of the Canary Islands Gomera, was in danger of extinction. Only about 20 specimens remained and, to boost the reproduction of the lizards and protect the species, launched a project with a budget of three million dollars.
And it seems that it was a success, since in early September three lizard puppies were born in the Recovery Center of Irla. According to the last census, there are 23 giant lizards. Congratulations!
