The Virunga gorilla population has increased by 17% since 1989. In fact, in that year 324 gorillas were counted and in September and October last year 380. Their lands are not easy to manage because they depend on three nations: Congo, Uganda and Rwanda. Each of these nations has a national park in Virunga. And if that were not enough, in those areas there have also been war noises. Therefore, the joint work of the three peoples to protect the gorillas has even more merit.
