The eyes of the Mantis nozzle (Odontodactylus scyllarus) are very special and have a capacity that do not have the eyes of other animals. In fact, scientists have seen that the eyes of this animal have the ability to separate the two variants that presents a polarized light circularly -- the one that rotates to the right and the one that rotates to the left --.
It is not easy to distinguish these two variants. In fact, most animals do not separate them, although they perceive them. The Mantis nozzle, however, distinguishes both variants. Scientists still do not know what they use this capacity for.
