Coaxial cables carry television and radio signals because, despite the small diameter of the cable, they are able to transport waves of great wavelength. In order to do the same with the optical signal, American physicists manufacture a nanoscopic coaxial cable. This nanocable will carry light in the place of electricity, so you can use it in optical microscopes and other optical devices. To achieve this, the nanocable has the same structure as simple coaxial cables, separated by two insulating conductor layers. The interior is a nanotube, the outer layer is metallic and between them it is formed by aluminum oxide.
