A survey in Oman reveals that the plants landed 440-470 million years ago. The researchers have found microscopic spores in the rocks of the time. However, spores are grouped in groups of two and four, which is one of the characteristics of the Briofite plants, a group of terrestrial plants and not of algae.
Researchers suspect they were similar to hepatic ones. However, the observation of these spores does not allow us to know how the plant itself was. In addition, they have not lost the hope of finding remains of older terrestrial plants and intend to continue with the research.
