Harmless bacteria!

A special group of arthrotic diseases originates in one of the harmless bacteria that inhabit the stomach, according to some researchers at the University of Texas. To this conclusion they have come through sessions with rats.

Spondyloarthropathy is characterized by intestinal, cutaneous or genital inflammation and arthritis of the lower back.

It is known that HLA-B27 has long been associated with these diseases. In fact, only 8% of the population has this gene and more than 50% of cases of spondyloarthropathy. However, it is not clear which stomach bacteria cause the disease and its relationship with the HLA-B27 gene. Therefore, more research is necessary to clarify all the mechanisms of the disease.
