John T. Tate, prize Abel 2010

The Norwegian Academy of Sciences has awarded the Abel 2010 award to John T. The American Tate, "for the great and lasting repercussion that has had his work in the field of number theory." The Abel prize is one of the biggest mathematical awards, with a remuneration of 6 million Norwegian crowns, that is, about 730.000 euros.
