Cape York in northern Australia is the new satellite launch centre to be located on the peninsula. The space port will be built in Temple Bay and is intended to be operational by 1992.
From this place the commercial charges will be extracted using Soviet launchers. The launch is said to be the new rocket called zenit.
From the new space port, saltelites can be launched in three directions: two equatorial orbits (east and west) and one polar (southwest). Moreover, the Zenit rocket will be able to put 2,240 kilograms in geostational orbit.
