How many living beings are there in the sea? The main international marine life census already has more than five million entries, with 38,000 species in total. In addition, the incorporation of new species to this census is being very fast.
In fact, 13,000 new species were introduced in 2003. The census presents an exponential growth that, according to experts, will not cease in the coming years. These data were presented at a conference held in Hamburg on 29 November.
