Two Australian ornithologists have discovered a new species of owl on the island of Sumba, in Indonesia. Thanks to their genetic studies they have been able to find out that Ninox is an owl of the genus.
The captured individual has a length of 23 cm and the wings reach a width of 57 cm. Gray-brown plumage with yellow eyes. However, they do not know much more about the animal and scientists intend to continue studying the evolution of the new species.
