The solution many dream of is to change the use of these gases to reduce their greenhouse effect. Research by a group of Swiss chemists goes that way. They have already managed to mix carbon dioxide with water and turn it into fuel, so they have only had to use sunlight. The catalyst element is titanium oxide (IV), one of the substances present in toothpaste.
This chemical process can be assimilated to the photosynthesis of green plants, due to sunlight. However, only the last ultraviolet rays of the light spectrum are used, which can delay the development of the new technique.
