Working the voice of the esophagus

Laryngeal laryngeal cancers often involve the patient's laryngectomy. This operation, however, leaves the patient with no oral communication capacity, which affects their quality of life.

The most common solution is the use of esophageal voice, but many patients fail to fully develop this voice.

In addition, so far there was no method to measure the quality of that esophageal voice, nor a treatment to improve or recover it. In fact, the Clínica Universitaria de Navarra has developed a protocol for the definition and improvement of different types of esophageal voices. It is a novel and practical method, so it is considered that it will have a direct application in clinics.
