The European Union has decided to ban the use of three neoniquinoid insecticides. According to a study published in the journal Nature in February 2018, in fields treated with pesticides, bees and other pollinators receive dangerous levels of neonicocotinoids through flower dust. They cause paralysis and death, concluding that they can endanger bee populations. After several years of debate, they decide to ban clotianidine, imidaclopride and tiametoxam.
The new measure will be launched at the end of the year, but it is clarified that the ban will only apply to the outdoors. That is, it can be used in fixed greenhouses, thinking that bees will have restricted access.
