You will only need the energy of the Sun to pass through the sky. Silent, practical and totally clean, is what researchers say that they have built a plane named Icaré 2. The Icaré 2 plane will fly in July next year, after giving the last touches in the German city of Sttutgart.
It has a width of 25 meters, is made of plastic and carbon fiber, which has allowed it to be relatively light: Only 165 kilos.
Solar panels will get 93% of the energy the plane needs and have a 2.4 meter propeller. With all this, the Icaré 2 can follow the same route as conventional gliders.
This is what researchers who are working on this project believe and to announce that they are well, in July Icaré 2 will participate in the international aircraft race.
