Take advantage of the sun… and travel the world

You will only need the energy of the Sun to pass through the sky. Silent, practical and totally clean, is what researchers say that they have built a plane named Icaré 2. The Icaré 2 plane will fly in July next year, after giving the last touches in the German city of Sttutgart.

Before crossing the skies, only the last touches to Icaré 2 are missing. Solar energy will be easily powered when it starts working in July next year.

It has a width of 25 meters, is made of plastic and carbon fiber, which has allowed it to be relatively light: Only 165 kilos.

Solar panels will get 93% of the energy the plane needs and have a 2.4 meter propeller. With all this, the Icaré 2 can follow the same route as conventional gliders.

This is what researchers who are working on this project believe and to announce that they are well, in July Icaré 2 will participate in the international aircraft race.
