The NANOEFFECT project is developing new devices capable of changing color by applying an electric current. These devices are called electrochromic. The project is led by the Fraunhofer-Institut Silicatforschung (ISC). The goal is to develop a new low cost material, high durability and wide range of colors. It will develop electrochromic glasses or applications for the textile or automotive sector.
One of the participants in the project is CIDETEC-IK4. The mission of the Basque technology center has been to synthesize new electroactive polymers with a special nanostructure and develop fully flexible electrochromic devices based on these nanomaterials.
