Legend lives because he spread his diet

In North America many large animals disappeared in the Pleistocene and, therefore, most of the scavenger birds that fed them, but the Count of California managed to survive.

They study the bone isotopes of three species of birds of the time and discover that the condor also ate marine mammals, while those of the missing species did not. And the conclusion of the paleontologists is that the count survived a wider diet.
