Ball rays are rare so it is very difficult to analyze them when they occur in nature. Scientists have learned about the composition of artificially created ball rays, studying them within the Grenoble ESRF sycroton. One billion particles per cubic centimeter have been observed. Two years ago, engineers from Tel Aviv University of Israel managed to artificially create these rays. From a metal tip a microwave was sent to a silicon surface, which melted part of the silicon, forming a column of fire. Occasionally came out of this column spokes in the form of a ball.
