Some New York physicists suspect they have released the quarks from the nucleus of the atom. The nuclei are formed by protons and neutrons, formed by particles called quark. In addition, quarkas are bound together by the exchange of particles called gluons, just as atoms are joined by the exchange of electrons. It is estimated that this whole structure can be undone by a very energetic shock, that is, from the atomic nuclei a plasma of quarks and gluons can be obtained.
However, to carry out an experiment that demonstrates it would require a lot of energy. Physicists have done some sessions from the golden atoms, but they have achieved nothing. Now, physicists using the Relativistic Heavy Iron Collider (NHIC) accelerator believe they have achieved the plasma of quarks and gluons. To do this, they have collided with each other the gold cores and deuterium at the speed of light.
These shocks are therefore an opportunity to experimentally investigate the elementary particles of the nucleus, as so far has been done with protons and neutrons.
