Aventis Award for Asymmetry

This year's Aventis Award Right Hand, Left Hand: He has won a book on asymmetry published under the title The Origins of Asymmetry in Brains, Bodies, Atoms and Cultures. These prizes are awarded to the best books of scientific dissemination and are of great prestige.

The book, written by Chris McManus, Professor of Psychology and Medicine at the University of London, discusses the important role of asymmetry in biology, physics and chemistry. He has also reflected on the origin and asymmetry of the right or left, why the majority of the population is right, why we have the heart on the left, etc. For this, it has used people of right and left, including his two twin daughters.

On the other hand, the special award for children has been for biologist Frances Dipper with his book The Dorling Kindersley Guide to the Oceans.
