An atom takes the quantum leap
01/03/2009 | Elhuyar

A team of researchers from the universities of Maryland and Michigan has managed to teleport an ion of the Iterb element. The information of an ion was sent to another ion located more than a meter high. With this achievement the records that already existed have been broken, since until now only managed to teleport the photons. They also got it with atoms, but at a lower distance. According to the researchers, this advance can be decisive for the creation of the quantum computer.
