The chips used by computers to perform their calculations, currently manufactured by transistors, are in the process of being magnetic devices. If the researchers would make these new chips effective, they would be faster and smaller than the current ones, and also they would not emit heat.

Computers perform all their internal calculations through chips called logical doors. These logical gates perform basic logical functions such as AND and OR --y, or -. The current logical doors are built with transistors, so they are very hot, and that, of course, brings problems, especially because many transistors can not accumulate, because the heat would cause breakdowns. However, magnetic logic doors do not emit heat, so you can avoid the main problem.

If the renewal comes into effect, magnetic cards can carry this type of chips. These cards will be able not only to carry a code, but also to perform calculations for themselves. This will make it difficult to copy the cards, resulting in greater security.

But the advantage is not free. Magnetic logic doors have a problem, that is, many magnetic elements must be linked successively, and it is necessary that the magnetic fields of these elements interact properly. If they are too close, the data is destroyed when interacting.

Because along this path, there are also advances, which have found in the Autonomous University of Barcelona a situation that does not have that problem: the microscopic called displaced violence.

Soon the computer will turn on faster

The displaced vortices are microscopic turbulence of several thousandths of the millimeter at the magnetic points where the data is collected. Violence, in general, does not leave your area and does not interact, so data is not lost. This allows for higher capacity hard drives.
