The European Space Agency is testing a service to help people with asthma or breathing problems. These people are heavily affected by air pollution, so ESA has launched an alert system for people in danger in central London and in a district.

Thus, when air pollution is expected to exceed a certain level, ESA sends a message to the mobile phone of people with health problems. This allows them to take preventive measures.

To make predictions, ESA combines local data with broader data. It also takes into account the influence of weather and thus makes a forecast for the next 24 hours.

All this requires great coordination, among other things because organizations from different European countries participate. But the service is already giving good results and users are satisfied.
